My name is João (pronounced a bit like joo-uh-oom). While I am trained and usually work in IT, I’ve found a love for bike touring.
In March 2019, I’ve figured it was time for a break from the office life. I’ve quit my job and will be cycling in a (mostly) northerly direction until I can’t anymore. That means reaching cape Nordkinn, which is the northernmost point in Europe. As for the journey back… who knows?
I like to travel off the beaten path and to be open to experience places that weren’t made for tourism. I’m also currently a bit out of shape and not quite an experienced outdoorsman, so it’ll be slow going, but it shall be done nonetheless. Like the blurb above says, I’m not Chris Froome or Bear Grylls. Nor will I be when I’m done. That’s not the point. The point is getting to see this big old Earth, and not just the places the other people set up for you. The point is meeting locals in the places I go through and to find out about how people actually live there. The point is to be lazy. And to cycle. And to tell people about it.
So now that the introduction is made, you can go read the blog, find out what’s happening and where I’m at. If doing that isn’t lazy enough for you, hey, I get it! It’s probably easier to follow me on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter though.
