2019-05-27: visited a bit more and left. The signage for the Via Rhôna absolutely sucks, on this bit.
2019-05-26: visiting town and going for drinks at Friday’s hostel. Lots of characters, there.
2019-05-25: looking for a bed with another guy from yesterday’s hostel. Apparently, Ed Sheeran is in town, so that’s why there are no beds. A… kinda crappy youth hostel had a bed so I took it. Visited town a bit.
2019-05-24: here the Via Rhôna got weird. Narrow single track dirt paths, impossible climbs, fallen trees in the way, going on the internet all the time, due to bad signage, it’s all there. Arrived at Lyon. Want to spend the weekend, but there are no reasonably priced beds tomorrow.
2019-05-21 to 23: still going up the Via Rhôna towards Lyon. SO MANY BUGS!
2019-05-20: visited town, had a few drinks with a couple of Canadian girls.
2019-05-19: mostly chilled out and did laundry. This place is a ghost town, on Sundays.
2019-05-18: got a warranty replacement for the air mattress, in a different country, and without even showing a receipt! I can’t believe that worked. Also arrived at Avignon.
2019-05-17: crossed the Rhône ferry and headed to see the mouth of the river. Had to home through thick begin to see it, though. Still lots of bugs on the rice fields.
2019-05-16: went through Camargue natural park with a nasty headwind at the start of the day. I ran out of water, so I biked into the night, to the nearest campsite. Also my air mattress stopped working. Bummer. Lots of bugs, here.
2019-05-15: went very far. 105 km in a gorgeous day. Shame it was too cold for the beach.
2019-05-14: bike in the shop, visited Narbonne, didn’t go very far.
2019-05-13: the detour through the natural park wasn’t worth it. Still, arrived at an industrial park near Narbonne. Getting the bike in the shop tomorrow.
2019-05-12: rest day.
2019-05-11: visiting Carcassonne and cycling with a nice tailwind. Blew another screw in the luggage rack. It’s holding on by luggage straps and friction. At least this rack of better designed than the other one. It’ll have to hold on till Narbonne.
2019-05-10: arrived at Carcassonne, stayed with a great Warmshowers host. Lots of wine was drunk.
2019-05-09: downhill through bug country.
2019-05-08: toughest climbing yet, then lots of rain on the downhill. Got soaked.
2019-05-07: coldest night yet. Went up (ugh!) and way down (whee!).
2019-05-06: visited Puigcerdá and Llívia, more going upriver.
2019-05-05: going off the main road was definitely not worth it this time. Still, arrived at Puigcerdá.
2019-05-04: the pass I wanted to use is snowed in, the regular road is closed due to a landslide. Going around confirmed. Sick of going upriver, bit it’ll go on for awhile.
2019-05-03: had some bad news on the weather and roads in Andorra. I might have to go around. Some nasty climbing, but gorgeous scenery.
2019-05-02: nothing really interesting to report. Uh… had a nice lentil soup?
2019-05-01: lots of not so gentle climbing. At least the landscape is nice.
2019-04-30: back on the saddle. (Re) visiting Tarragona, some unexpected dirt and lots of gentle climbing

2019-04-27 and 28: catching up with friends at Tarragona.
2019-04-26: did the rest of the railway. At first it was boring but then the scenery got real nice. Cheated at the end and took a train ahead, because I wanted to spend the weekend with friends.
2019-04-25: forgot the helmet in the shop and took to long to pack, so I started late and didn’t go too far. On an old railway with a never-ending gentle slope up.
2019-04-24: Took the bike into town to get it fixed. Good as new.
2019-04-23: Mostly flat day, with a lot of dirt roads. A bolt on my luggage rack sheared right off. Managed to get a cab to my destination.
2019-04-22: Went way uphill, then way down. Wee!
2019-04-21: Happy Easter! Visited Calatayud, but everything was closed. Moved on.
2019-04-20: Went through a nice river canyon, then some boring plains. Did some good km, but came up short of where I wanted, because I didn’t move a lot yesterday.
2019-04-19: Explored Sigüenza, biked on a 40 km/h headwind. Didn’t get far.
2019-04-18: First forced rest day. Didn’t want to face 40mm rain in a day. Got caught up on internet and TV shows instead. Yeah, I’m still a nerd. 🙂
2019-04-17: Toughest cycling so far, got to my destination, though.
2019-04-16: Ended up being a rest day. Patched up some saddlebags and fixed a broken spoke, though.
2019-04-15: Visited Guadalajara, got back on the hills. Really great campsite, this time.
2019-04-14: Got through suburbia, reserved a hostel in… the wrong continent. I thought it was too cheap! Ran out of time sorting it out, so again… dodgy campsite.
2019-04-13: Mostly flat day, mostly through fields. Dodgy campsite.
2019-04-11/12: Visiting Toledo. This place is great!
2019-04-10: It got hilly again and I got to Toledo.
2019-04-09: felt ill again, decided not to go anywhere for the day.
2018-04-08: headed to the bike shop. Installed replacement clips, visited Talavera. That town sucks. Did a bit of the way towards Toledo.
2019-04-07: didn’t feel like doing anything. Spent most of the day in bed.
2019-04-06: the bike shop where I shipped the replacement clips for the saddlebags was closed due to a city holiday. Really wanted a bed, so headed to the next town due to cheaper kidding.
2019-04-05: first rainy night. Felt slightly ill and the day was mostly gravel roads. Really windy campsite today. Pitching the tent sucked.

2019-04-04: coldest night so far. Am in the middle of nowhere. Got low on food and drink, but solved it.
2019-04-03: visiting Monfragüe national Park. Saddlebag clip broke. Carried it with luggage straps.

2019-03-27: got into a dead end, mechanical issues and lots of climbing
2019-03-26: took too long packing, so short day.
2019-03-25: rest day at Avis
2019-03-24: sore. Stocking to the original plan and sleeping at Avis.
2019-03-23: departure! Came up way short of goal. Sleeping the fatigue off
2019-03-22: Got mixed up with packing and loose ends. Still at home.
